COMMODITY LUMBER TRADER
North Star Forest Materials, a division of Weekes Forest Products is
seeking experienced sales professionals with determination and sales savvy.
North Star is a leading commodity lumber trading division selling dimension lumber, MSR lumber, engineered lumber, studs and panels to customers throughout the United States.
Ideal candidate will have 5-7+ years of wholesale experience.
Job Description
Position: Account Manager / Trader
Report to: Division General Manager
Summary: Represent North Star Forest Material’s business interests as defined by our Mission Statement, particularly in efforts to develop and maintain its existing and prospective customer base as trading partners. Works to satisfy the needs of the customer by means of information, products, problem solving and services available through North Star Forest Materials and Weekes Forest Products.
Requirements:
 | Proven record of selling lumber products into US and Canadian markets - 5+ years program and transactional customer experience preferred. |
| Requires in depth knowledge of manufacturing processes and structural wood products. |
| Extensive product line knowledge ( Panels- OSB , Plywood, as well as SYP, Douglas Fir, Hemlock SPF Lumber with understanding of MSR). |
| Excellent communication skills (verbal and written). |
| Computer skills - (PC Skills, Windows , Excel, Word, etc.). |
| Have the desire and ability to work in a team environment. |
| Ability to work under deadlines and handle multiple priorities. |
| Demonstrated consultative selling skills and program selling capability. |
| Experience in dealing with changing market dynamics - balancing economic tradeoffs, customer needs and mill considerations / capabilities on a real time basis. |
Education and
Experience:
• Minimum of an associates degree from an accredited academic institution or
commensurate industry experience.
• Knowledge of the industry, the Company and the products and services provided.
• Strong math, accounting, interpersonal and English language communication
skills.
• A basic knowledge of computer systems.
